Social media tips

1. Set a simple posting schedule

Consistency is key. Start with a manageable rhythm—such as 3 posts per week—and build from there.

  • Monday – Promote what’s new or upcoming this week

  • Wednesday – Share a story, photo or spotlight from your members

  • Friday – Offer a tip, fun fact or question to spark interaction

Use a tool like Buffer, Meta Business Suite or Later to schedule posts in advance.

2. Mix up your content types

Keep your feed fresh and relevant with a variety of post formats:

  • Platform updates – New features or content

  • User-generated content – Events or posts from your members

  • Behind the scenes – A peek into the team, planning or challenges

  • Community stories – Testimonials, milestones or local impact

  • Calls to action – Encourage sign-ups, sharing or participation

3. Template posts to save time

Here are a few ready-made templates you can adapt weekly:

4. Track and tweak

Use insights from Facebook, Instagram or X to see what works.

Track simple metrics like:

  • Likes, comments and shares

  • Clicks through to your platform

  • Sign-ups or event RSVPs linked from posts

Repeat the types of posts that perform well and tweak or drop what doesn't.

Final tip

Don’t overthink every post. It’s easy to get caught up in trying to craft the perfect message or worry about saying exactly the right thing—but in reality, people engage most with content that feels real, local and personable. A quick photo from an event, a casual reminder about a new activity, or a shoutout to a member doing something great can go a long way in building trust and connection.

Focus on showing up consistently, being authentic and speaking in a tone that reflects your community’s character. Over time, these small touches add up to a strong and active presence. So start where you are, share what you can and let momentum build naturally.
