Messaging groups of members by account type
On your Made Open platform, you can send messages to groups of members based on their account type (e.g. individuals, organisations, volunteers). This is a powerful way to share relevant updates, highlight opportunities, and encourage action from the right people—without flooding everyone with irrelevant information.
Why message by account type?
Targeted messages are more likely to be read, clicked, and acted on. For example:
- Want to invite all organisations to post more events?
- Need to check in with all volunteers who signed up last month?
- Promoting a new guide that’s relevant only to service providers?
Messaging by account type means you can tailor your tone and content to who you’re speaking to—boosting engagement and keeping communication relevant.
When to use this feature
- Promoting training or workshops to providers
- Encouraging volunteers to update availability
- Asking individuals to complete their profiles
- Sharing new platform features with organisations
- Reminding group admins to check their listings
Tips for effective group messages
- Be clear and concise – Say what it’s about and what they should do next.
- Personalise the tone – Use a friendly, helpful voice suited to the group.
- Add value – Make sure there’s a benefit or useful reason to read.
- Include a clear call to action – Link to the next step (e.g. “Add an activity,” “Read the guide”).
- Avoid over-messaging – Limit group messages to genuinely helpful updates.
