We’re really pleased to share that Made Open has been appointed by Voluntary Action Rotherham to lead a consultation project exploring the future of community information and directory services in Rotherham.
The project will help shape a new online platform for local voluntary and community organisations, building on the existing Rotherham Gismo directory which currently supports hundreds of groups and services across the borough.
Over the next few months we’ll be speaking with local organisations, residents, partners and stakeholders to better understand what people need from a modern community platform.
The consultation will look at things like:
- how people currently find local support and activities
- what barriers people face
- what features would make the new platform more useful
- accessibility and inclusion
- how organisations can easily manage and update information
- long-term sustainability and governance
We’ll be running workshops, interviews and user research sessions with a wide range of people and organisations across Rotherham.
Projects like this are really important because community platforms work best when they’re shaped by the people who actually use them.
Too often organisations jump straight into buying or building a new platform before taking the time to properly understand user needs, partner requirements and long-term challenges. Good consultation can help.
