Even with more value offered to partners, partnership-building needs to be more structured and transparent.
In the previous section, we explored the different types of partners and how they contribute to the platform. But you could also think about it in terms of each partner’s engagement levels or a combination of the two, like this:
Type of partner × Level of engagement
This is because not every partner has the same capacity or resources, so it’s important to define what partnership looks like at different levels. Ultimately, clarity is key - understanding what each partner is willing and able to contribute helps set realistic expectations and build stronger relationships.
Light engagement
These partners typically provide small one-off contributions such as a referral, attendance at a focus group, a piece of content or a small financial contribution.
Moderate engagement
These partners allocate part of a team member’s role to engage with the platform - attending regular check-ins, co-hosting events or providing ongoing support.
High engagement
These partners dedicate significant time to the platform - often with a staff member dedicated to the role. They may co-design features and fund major initiatives.
This flexible structure helps our clients build partnerships that match each organisation’s capacity - whether they’re offering time, expertise, funding or a combination of all three.
