The challenge

Warrington faces significant health inequalities.

Residents in wealthier neighbourhoods can live more than 10 years longer than those in deprived areas, even when these communities sit side by side.

Although the average life expectancy is 80 years, healthy life expectancy is only around 65 years - meaning many people spend roughly 15 years in poor or declining health.

With the over 65 population set to increase by 50% in the next 20 years, pressure on already overstretched health and social care services will grow.

The challenge
How we've helped

Supporting an integrated, multi-channel approach.

The Living Well Warrington platform helps residents, community builders and healthcare professionals find local services, support and information. It features an integrated directory, tailored resources, community-based content and self-service tools.

Key achievements in its first 12 months:

  • Generated £163,074 in Social Value (cautious estimate).
  • 1,024 new activities added to the platform.
  • 69,098 unique visits recorded.
  • 4,473 connections made to services.
  • Platform activity has grown by 196% in 2026.
How we've helped
A collaborative design process

The platform was co-designed via workshops and 1-2-1 sessions.

Together, partners considered how the platform could encourage prevention, reach those at higher risk and create a consistent and trusted Living Well identity across the borough.

Partners emphasised the need to make the platform easy to use, with a powerful search and accessible content.

Looking ahead

Living Well Warrington is an evolving platform that will grow alongside the physical Living Well Hub.

Future developments will focus on creating personalised user pathways, providing an alternative access point to Adult Social Care, and leveraging AI to identify and integrate community resources.

Aligned with the NHS 10-Year Plan and its strategic shift toward neighbourhood health, the platform is developing shared products and projects to build a cohesive brand and approach.

Living Well Warrington is attracting national interest and showcasing demonstrations of how local innovation can deliver measurable social value.

Looking ahead

"Made Open’s software gives us pretty much everything we are looking for but, more importantly, the Made Open team are a perfect fit in terms of sharing our vision and values. Their open and honest approach, and their willingness to listen, learn and adapt, means that our platform will be highly valuable to our local communities."
