Bristol volunteers reading in schools

The Bristol Reading in Schools consortium (BRISc) is a partnership of organisations who have come together to raise the level of literacy across primary schools in Bristol. The project aspires to help give all young people the best start in life.

The reading programme in Bristol used Can Do Bristol to ask for volunteers and has crowdsourced around 300 volunteers since.

In the Spring of 2019, we launched Hexitime - a timebanking platform funded by the Q community.

Hexitime brings members together and enables them to exchange skills for time credits. In the first 3 months, the potential impact of Hexitime became evident as many useful and meaningful exchanges were completed.

Torbay take Yarnbombing to Florida

Timebankers from the Torbay Together platform in Devon have swapped time with Florida timebankers in their first international exchange. On a recent trip to Florida, Ann (70), from Torquay, was met by timebankers from Tampa Bay Time and the Spring Hill Timebank in Florida who offered her a lift to their weekly meeting. They swapped experiences of timebanking in Florida and Devon and Ann introduced the popular hobby of ‘yarnbombing’ to her new fellow timebankers.
