Your Attendance at Work
Made Open values good attendance at work and is committed to improving the general wellbeing of its employees to achieve this. Although we aim to secure regular attendance, we do not expect employees to attend when they are unwell.
Notification of Absence
Your line manager should be notified as early as possible if absence from work is anticipated for hospitalisation and other medical treatment.
Any employee who has been absent due to sickness and is found not to have been genuinely ill will be subject to disciplinary action, which could include dismissal.
Please observe our approach to personal sick days for employees and contractors:
- If you are sick or injured, telephone your key contact by 9.00am of the first working day;
- Give the reason for your absence and your expected date of return;
- Specify if absence is likely to last longer than 1 day;
- If you are unable to telephone in person, ask a relative or friend to phone on your behalf;
- Keep your key contact informed of progress and your likely date of return;
- For long-term absence, please update your key contact every 7 days.
Please note that notification of absence by email, text message or messages via other staff does not go down well at Made Open. In the eventuality of situations such as sickness in the family, bereavement, and dental and hospital appointments, please let us know as soon as possible.
Sickness Payments
The Employee will receive their normal salary for a period of three weeks in any 12-month period where a doctor’s certificate is produced after 7 consecutive working days sickness. Payments will be less Statutory Sick Pay and any Social Security benefits due to the Employee.
