This page lists out all the platform settings available to use when setting up and customising a platform.
It has been designed for internal Made Open use as a point of reference.
Platform setting |
What does it do? |
Platform level |
Platform level |
Our Made Open platforms vary depending on the pricing model you choose. Enterprise platforms combine any or all of our functionality and will have access to everything possible in our CMS. Innovator platforms...TBC Starter platforms have a simpler feel, with limited features (1 or 2) and navigation (1 small drop-down menu). |
|
Register form name | This can be someone's full name or a username they choose. | All |
Region code | The country code that platform is licensed from (even if it operates globally). | All |
Number of activity cards per page | Our default is 30 cards to display on homepages & activity streams. You can customise this number. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Additional form at registration |
Our standard registration process asks users to enter their name, email and account type, agree to the T&Cs and authenticate their email. If you want a custom registration process, we can help you set up a form that users will be required to submit before they use the platform. This is common practise on timebanks. |
All |
Activity review time | This is the length of time that your admin team commits to reviewing pending activities for approval. The most common is 2 working days. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Automatic activity expiry |
You can set the length of time that all activities have to have an expiry date set within. The most common is 12 months. You can also set when a user will receive a reminder that their activity is about to expire and they can renew it if it is still relevant. The default is 7 days before and then 2 days before. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Members require approval |
You can prevent new users from interacting on your platform before they have been approved. This is standard functionality for timebanks. |
All |
Members require approval before showing in the members stream |
You can allow new members to sign up for the platform, message others, post activities and work on their profile, but prevent them from appearing on the members stream unless they have been approved by you. This is useful for directories of public organisations who need to have a verified members stream. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Allow members to see all other members' names when sending a new message. |
In the inbox, a user can either see only connections or all members when selecting who to send a new message to. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Disallow members from changing their account types |
This allows admins to keep control over a member's account type. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Contact fields in profiles |
Enable this to give members the option to add their contact details. This is found in a member's settings but can also be integrated to a custom form. You will need to enable contact fields for each account type in the CMS seperately. |
All |
Custom dashboard navigation |
If this is set the member dashboard navigation can be controlled with /cms/menus as opposed to following the sub dashboard structure automatically. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Allow members to edit their activities |
If enabled, members can edit activities from /dashboard/manage-activities. Default is 'yes' for all platforms. |
All |
Allow members to toggle their display name |
If enabled, members can toggle whether their username is displayed, or their full name. Default is 'no'. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Allow members to join automatically after additional registration steps |
This is used for additional customisations, for example on NHS platform where users complete post-register steps and are then allowed to be a full member. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Set the default 'enter to send' position for this platform |
Platform messages can use the 'enter' key on a keyboard for either starting a new line (set to 'no') or sending the message (set to 'yes'). |
Enterprise Innovator |
Hide the members stream |
Removes links to the members stream, and redirects users to the homepage if they go to /members. Also hides the member name on activity cards. |
All |
Allow non-logged in members to create an activity (de-coupled activities) |
This option will allow members to submit an activity without registering on the platform (developed for Wiltshire). You can choose which activity types are enabled for this (it doesn't have to be everything). |
Enterprise Innovator |
Hide user profiles to logged out users |
If set to "yes" members must be logged in in order to see profiles. |
All |
Only show member stream to logged in members |
If set to "yes", members will have to log in if they want to view the member stream. If set to "no" the member stream can be accessed whether logged in or not. |
All |
Show complete profiles |
This setting refers to member profiles appearing on the members stream before completing a search. 'Complete members' are qualified by a name, profile picture and the 'what do you do?' line completed. Useful for platforms with public directories where a new, incomplete member sets the wrong first impression. |
Enterprise Innovator |
Hide social sharing |
If enabled, this option will hide the button to share an activity on social media or with friends. |
