Our Monmouthshire is a community exchange for people living and working in Monmouthshire.
The platform is being used throughout the Coronavirus crisis to reach out to communities and recruit street coordinators. Towns and villages can use Our Monmouthshire to post, promote and manage individual offers and needs.
The platform's original purpose was / is to help current and future generations who are facing intractable challenges where public institutions don’t have all the answers. Last year, for example, Monmouthshire’s Public Services Board started the process of integrating their efforts around The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. Our Monmouthshire provides an engaging and remote way for people to learn about local issues and share their views.
The Coronavirus crisis has meant that we have repurposed the platform on a temporary basis to provide a means for people to stay connected, offer help to their neighbour and / or request help. A key element of this is the timebank. Timebanking builds networks of people who give and receive support and enables people who may not otherwise meet to form meaningful connections and friendships.
We have helped Monmouthshire County Council and their partners to repurpose this platform and recruit street coorindators. The aim of the street coordinator role is to act as a key point of contact for people in their community needing help and support, and coordinate people in their community who can provide help and support.
