While sharing some information is okay, other facts can reveal too much about you.
Verify other members
Most platforms have 'badges' to show you if someone has been reference checked.
Use strong passwords
Creating a strong password will prevent hackers from posting spam or other malicious attacks.
- Not everyone is who they say they are.
- Relationships can change – someone you trust now might behave differently in the future.
- Be wary of anyone who wants to move offline too soon.
- Trust your instincts.
- Never send money to someone you’ve met online.
As a participant of the timebank, you'll agree to:
- Respect other members' privacy, confidentiality and view points.
- Not pressure another member to accept your religious beliefs or political views.
- Not involve friends or relatives in timebank activities unless as part of a group activity.
- Not to ask for or accept money, gifts or tips from other members (unless covering previously agreed costs for materials or fuel).
- Only eat or drink a member's food and drink if invited to do so.
- Respect a no smoking policy in a member's home or venue at the time of each exchange.
- Only use any possessions of the member, including telephone, if given clear permission to.
- Treat other members respectfully.
As a volunteer, you'll agree to:
- Respect other volunteers' privacy, confidentiality and view points.
- Not pressure another person to accept your religious beliefs or political views.
- Respect a no smoking policy in an organisation's venue at the time of volunteering.
- Only use any possessions of the organisation, including telephone, if given clear permission to.
- Treat other people respectfully.
As a manager of volunteers, you'll agree to:
- Respect volunteers' privacy, confidentiality and view points.
- Not pressure another person to accept your religious beliefs or political views.
- Respect a no smoking policy in a volunteer's home.
- Only use any possessions of the volunteer, including telephone, if given clear permission to.
- Treat other people respectfully.
