Measuring impact

  • Your Nominated Individual (NI) will aid you to set your initial impact milestones for your platform,
  • These measurement milestones help to focus your team around shared goals and objectives,
  • Once set-up is completed, your NI will hold regular review meetings with you and your team to discuss how your platform is progressing against these milestones,
  • These review meetings are a chance to review your key performance inidicators (KPI's), discuss platform statistics and check in about the running of the platform.

Ways to measure impact

KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) represent data that you can track in order to measure the success of your community.

For example:

  • Platform members: the number of users signing up to your community
  • Engagement rates: active contributors in the community
  • Traffic: platform visitors per month
 

Results based accountability

RBA is a data-driven, decision-making process to help you move from talking about problems to taking action to solve problems.

RBA decision making helps you learn how to:

  • start with ends and work backward towards means 
  • get from talk to action quickly
  • follow a simple, common sense process 
  • build collaboration and consensus
  • use data and transparency to ensure accountability

Quantitative data

  • Work out what data to look at and how to use it.
  • Plan a regular process to review your data over time.
  • Record the activity and interaction stats from your platform's CMS.
  • Relate stats to your community. What story do they tell?

 

Qualitative data

  • Connect with members and ask them to share their success stories.
  • Ask members to share images and media from their activities.
  • Use a project team space with a survey to collect user experience feedback.
  • Connect with active members or coordinators and ask them for detailed feedback.
  • Collate stories and quotes from platform members and your community.
