Interpret Google Analytics

Use this overview video to begin to understand how you can use Google Analytics to capture a wide variety of stats from your platform.

Make sure your email is set up to work with Google and your NI can then give you access.

Use the CMS dashboard quick link to view your Google Analytics Home.


View the audience overview to see users, sessions and session durations over the last 7 days. 

Use the 'audience overview >' link to interrogate the data further.


View an acquisition overview to see how your traffic arrived at your site.

Use the 'acquisition report >' link to interrogate the data further.


View the active users overview to see how many users have used your site over the last day, week and month.

Use the 'active users report >' link to interrogate the data further.


View the user retention overview to see how many users who were new in week 1, stayed to week 4 or 5.

Use the 'cohort analysis report >' link to interrogate the data further.


View the users by time of day to see popular times and days that users have visited your site by colour code.

Use the 'last 30 days' link to amend the timeframe of the graph.


View the sessions by country overview to see where users have visited your platform from*.

Use the 'location overview >' link to interrogate the data further.

*This is not always 100% accurate as IP addresses from devices are sometimes linked to the country of production or registration.

View the sessions by device overview to see a picture of how many users have visited your platform by desktop, mobile or laptop over the last 7 days.

Use the 'mobile overview >' link to interrogate the data further.


View the pages overview to see what pages your visitors visit, and how many times.

Use the 'pages report >' link to interrogate the data further.
